Türkiye intel chief meets Libyan commander Haftar in Benghazi

Ibrahim Kalin held talks with Saddam Haftar on efforts to unite Libya's divided administrations, as Ankara seeks to expand cooperation with the North African state.
Türkiye's National Intelligence Organization chief Ibrahim Kalin met with Saddam Haftar, deputy commander of eastern Libya-based forces, in Benghazi on Tuesday, security sources said. Discussions focused on uniting Libya's rival administrations and military structures under a single authority.
Cooperation efforts
The talks also addressed maintaining peace in the divided nation. Expanding bilateral cooperation between Ankara and the eastern administration was also on the agenda, according to the sources.
Regional context
Libya has remained split between competing eastern and western administrations since 2014, complicating efforts to establish a unified government. A UN-recognized administration holds Tripoli while parallel authorities operate from Benghazi.
