Erdogan honors fallen soldiers and veterans
In a message shared on Türkiye’s NSosyal platform, Erdogan commemorated those killed during the operation and praised the Turkish Armed Forces for demonstrating their capability against terrorism.
Erdogan said the campaign had sent a clear message that Türkiye would not accept terrorism, armed conflict or instability taking root in the region. He remembered the fallen “with mercy” and expressed gratitude to veterans for their service.
Defense Ministry highlights campaign against Daesh
The National Defense Ministry also issued a statement marking the anniversary, describing Operation Euphrates Shield as a major military action against terrorist organizations operating in Syria, particularly Daesh.
The ministry paid tribute to the Turkish Armed Forces and prayed for the fallen soldiers while extending its wishes for long and healthy lives to veterans. The statement emphasized the operation’s role in confronting terrorist threats along Türkiye’s southern border.
A cross-border operation in northern Syria
Operation Euphrates Shield was Türkiye’s major cross-border military campaign in northern Syria and was aimed at removing Daesh from areas close to the Turkish border.
