During a joint press conference in Cairo, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly called for Israel's withdrawal from five border posts it occupies in southern Lebanon. He condemned Israeli violations and affirmed Egypt's support for Lebanese sovereignty. The meeting, which also included the 10th session of the Egypt-Lebanon Joint Higher Committee, resulted in several new cooperation agreements.

Egypt has issued a firm demand for Israel to withdraw its forces from five occupied border outposts in southern Lebanon, reinforcing its stance on Lebanese sovereignty. The call was made by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly during a press conference in Cairo held with his Lebanese counterpart, Nawaf Salam, following high-level bilateral talks.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The leaders' meeting included the 10th session of the Egypt-Lebanon Joint Higher Committee, which Prime Minister Salam described as a significant step in a broader cooperation path between the two nations. Several memoranda of understanding were signed, covering sectors including energy, agriculture, health, and technology. Both sides agreed to expedite the implementation of these economic cooperation pacts.

Economic Support and Reconstruction

Addressing Lebanon's severe economic hardships, exacerbated by the recent conflict with Israel, Madbouly emphasized Egypt's commitment to supporting reconstruction efforts. He revealed that trade exchange between the two countries reached approximately $1 billion in 2024 and expressed confidence this figure could be doubled. Madbouly also announced plans for a visit to Beirut in December to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Regional Stability and Sovereignty

The Egyptian premier strongly condemned Israeli attacks and violations in southern Lebanon. The five occupied hills have been a point of regional tension since the last major conflict. Egypt's vocal support for Lebanon's territorial integrity underscores its ongoing diplomatic role in seeking stability in the Eastern Mediterranean, a region where Türkiye also maintains a significant strategic interest.
