Iran denies US claims defense systems destroyed, vows readiness

Iranian Armed Forces spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi on Thursday dismissed US assertions that Tehran's defensive capabilities have been destroyed, insisting that Iranian forces remain fully prepared and are stronger militarily now than when the war began, amid ongoing exchanges between Washington and Tehran.
Iranian Armed Forces spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi on Thursday rejected US claims that the country's defense systems had been destroyed, stating that the Islamic Republic's military remains fully prepared to respond to any threats. Speaking to state broadcaster IRIB, Shekarchi dismissed assertions by US President Donald Trump that Washington and Tel Aviv had wiped out Iran's military capabilities — claims that Tehran has repeatedly denied since the conflict began. "Do not focus on the enemy's claims; what matters is the reality on the battlefield," he said, urging observers to assess actual combat outcomes rather than statements from Washington.
Missile stockpiles and combat readiness
Shekarchi also rejected allegations that Iran's missile stockpiles had been depleted, arguing that such claims serve intelligence-gathering purposes for adversaries. "We have always said that we are ready, and the enemy has experienced this readiness on the battlefield," he added. Despite ongoing threats, the spokesman emphasized that Tehran continues to strengthen its military capabilities and is now "stronger militarily than at the beginning of" the conflict imposed on the country.
Support for allies and strategic options
The spokesman reaffirmed Iran's support for Hezbollah in Lebanon, stating that the so-called "resistance front" remains united against Israel and its allies. Addressing speculation about potential closure of the Bab al-Mandab Strait, Shekarchi indicated that Tehran maintains "many plans" for such contingencies and would reveal its options if necessary. The strategic waterway connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and has seen increased military attention amid regional tensions.
