Bahrain says intercepted Iranian drone debris injures child, damages homes

The Bahraini Interior Ministry said an 11-year-old girl suffered minor injuries and several homes were damaged when debris from intercepted Iranian drones fell on residential areas in Hamad Town and Manama, as regional tensions escalate following recent US military action.
Bahrain's Interior Ministry said on Thursday that an 11-year-old girl sustained minor injuries and residential properties suffered damage when debris from intercepted Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles fell on populated areas in the Gulf kingdom.
The ministry stated that vehicles caught fire and homes were damaged in Hamad Town and the capital Manama. Civil defense and national ambulance teams responded to the affected locations and provided treatment to the injured child at the scene, according to the statement posted on the social media platform X.
Iran claims strikes on US bases
The incident came as Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it had struck 18 major US military targets at Ali Al Salem and Ahmad Al Jaber air bases in Kuwait, as well as Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain. Tehran said the operations targeted American military installations as tensions continue to escalate between the Islamic Republic and Washington.
The developments follow US strikes on southern Iran earlier this week and Tehran's subsequent announcement that it was closing the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic. American military action against Iranian targets has intensified in recent days, with both sides exchanging threats and limited strikes across the region.
