Lebanon says Israeli attacks have killed over 2,500 since March 2

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported that 13 more people were killed in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll from Israeli attacks to 2,509 with 7,755 injured since March 2. The daily toll continues despite a three-week ceasefire extension announced Thursday. Israel has repeatedly breached the truce with airstrikes and ground operations.
Lebanese authorities announced on Sunday that Israeli attacks have now killed 2,509 people and wounded 7,755 since March 2, with 13 additional deaths recorded in the past 24 hours alone. The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed the figures as Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling continued across southern Lebanon, including strikes on Touline, Kherbet Selm, and the Rihan heights. The escalation followed a cross-border attack by Hezbollah on March 2, itself a response to US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran that began on Feb. 28.
Ceasefire violations
A 10-day truce was first announced on April 16 but was repeatedly breached by Israeli forces. On Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to extend their ceasefire by three weeks following a second round of ambassador-level talks at the White House. However, Israeli warplanes and artillery have continued to strike southern Lebanese towns daily, and ground forces remain inside Lebanese territory. Israeli officials have justified the ongoing operations as necessary to prevent Hezbollah from regrouping.
