The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday that its forces had shot down a record 1,671 Ukrainian drones during the previous 24 hours, surpassing the previous benchmark set just two days earlier. Ministry officials stated that air defense systems had intercepted the unmanned aerial vehicles across multiple regions while ground units pressed offensive operations in the east. “Air defense systems shot down ... 1,671 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles,” the ministry said, noting that Sunday’s total of 1,478 drones had established the prior record.
Territorial gains and infrastructure strikes
Russian forces captured the settlements of Krasnopodillya and Orikhuvatka in the Donetsk region, the ministry reported, adding that precision strikes had targeted logistics centers and fuel and energy infrastructure used by Ukrainian forces. The attacks also hit drone assembly workshops and storage sites for unmanned systems and their components, according to the briefing. Temporary deployment sites housing Ukrainian troops and foreign personnel across 148 separate locations were also struck, the ministry added.
Odesa port attack
Russian strike drones destroyed fuel storage tanks at the port of Odesa on Monday evening, the ministry said, alleging that the fuel was destined for Ukrainian armed forces. Ukrainian authorities have not issued an immediate response to the Russian statements regarding the attack. Independent verification of casualty figures and destruction reports remains difficult amid ongoing hostilities and strict restrictions on media access to frontline areas.
