The undisclosed trip comes days after Yair Netanyahu, the son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was urgently evacuated from the United States over what Israel's public broadcaster KAN described as a "significant threat." KAN reported Saturday that Shin Bet confirmed the threat and ordered his immediate return to Israel.
Regional flashpoint
The visit also coincides with renewed regional tensions following US military strikes on two Iranian launchers on Larak Island near the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, which killed two people and injured two others, according to Iranian media. Tehran later announced retaliatory attacks on sites used by American forces in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
