Three children killed in Ukrainian drone attack on southern Russia

Russian authorities on Monday confirmed that three children were killed and seven others injured when debris from a Ukrainian drone fell on a private children's center in the southern city of Krasnodar. The unmanned aircraft had been shot down by air defenses while targeting a nearby e-commerce warehouse during a large-scale overnight assault.

Governor Veniamin Kondratyev announced the incident on the Russian social media platform Max, stating that air defenses intercepted the drone during the coordinated attack. Maria Lvova-Belova, the Russian commissioner for children's rights, confirmed the fatalities in a separate statement on the same platform. "A terrible tragedy in Krasnodar Krai. Last night, as a result of a massive Ukrainian attack, according to preliminary information, three teenagers — aged 13, 15, and 16 — were killed," she said.

Logistics facilities targeted

The overnight assault also targeted several Ozon logistics facilities across southern Russia, according to the e-commerce giant and local officials. Ozon reported that its warehouses in Adygeysk in the Adygea region, Makhachkala in Dagestan, and Nevinnomyssk in the Stavropol region came under drone attack, with employees evacuated from the Adygeysk and Nevinnomyssk sites due to the threat of further strikes.

The company confirmed that its logistics center in Krasnodar was also attacked, where a fire had earlier broken out at the facility. A separate Ozon logistics center in the Takhtamukaysky district of Adygea caught fire following another drone strike, Russian authorities reported.

Retaliation strikes on Ukrainian ports

Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry announced it had conducted overnight strikes on Ukrainian port infrastructure and vessels delivering military supplies. The strikes hit the port of Pivdennyi in Ukraine's Odesa region, including a tanker carrying fuel intended for Ukrainian forces, five fuel storage tanks, and ten storage facilities containing military-related equipment.

The ministry also reported hitting the Adzhalyk-330 substation approximately 28 kilometers northwest of Odesa, which it claimed supplies power to Pivdennyi Port. The claims regarding the targets and extent of damage at the Ukrainian port could not be independently verified.
