The United Arab Emirates has condemned attacks on civilians in Sudan as a "dangerous escalation" and a crime against humanity. In a strong statement, the UAE foreign ministry endorsed international efforts to secure a truce and a nationwide ceasefire to alleviate the severe humanitarian crisis.

The United Arab Emirates has issued a strong condemnation of the violence targeting civilians in Sudan, describing the assault on residential areas and critical infrastructure as a dangerous escalation that violates international law. The UAE foreign ministry's statement characterized the attacks, including recent events in El-Fasher, as amounting to a crime against humanity.

Call for International Action

Abu Dhabi stressed that the worsening situation demands a unified and decisive international response. The ministry expressed its full support for regional and international initiatives aimed at establishing an immediate humanitarian truce. It called on all warring factions to uphold their responsibilities to protect civilians and ensure the rapid, unimpeded delivery of humanitarian assistance across Sudan.

Endorsement of the Quad Roadmap

The UAE specifically praised the recent declaration by the international Quad for Sudan—comprising the US, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt—labeling it a historic step. The statement noted that the Quad's plan accurately diagnoses the conflict's roots and provides a clear path forward, starting with a humanitarian truce and leading to a civilian-led political transition, a process seen as vital for Sudan's future stability.

Rejection of a Military Solution

Reiterating that there is no military solution to the conflict, the UAE emphasized that the consensus reflected in the Quad's statement is crucial for supporting Sudan's unity and the path to peace. The ministry renewed its call for an immediate nationwide ceasefire and a comprehensive political dialogue as the only way to end the war, preserve the country's territorial integrity, and relieve the profound suffering of the Sudanese people.
