US Central Command announced that US and partner forces intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones. Two missiles fired at Kuwait fell short or broke apart, while three missiles launched at Bahrain were intercepted by US and Bahraini air defense. CENTCOM denied IRGC claims of hitting US targets and said all Iranian attacks failed.
US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday that American and partner military forces successfully intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles and drones, and conducted self-defense strikes on Qeshm Island in response to Iranian attacks across the Middle East. “Iran launched several ballistic missiles toward regional neighbors, but all failed to hit their targets,” CENTCOM said in a statement. Two missiles fired at Kuwait fell short or broke apart en route, while three missiles launched at Bahrain were immediately intercepted by US and Bahraini air defense forces. The command also said its forces shot down three one-way attack drones launched by Iran toward civilian mariners transiting regional waters.
US strikes on Qeshm Island
American forces conducted self-defense strikes on an Iranian military ground control station on Qeshm Island, CENTCOM said. No US personnel were harmed in the operation. Separately, CENTCOM denied a claim by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that it had struck the US 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain and a US air base in the region with missiles and drones, calling the claim “false.” “All Iranian attacks on American forces failed. U.S. forces remain vigilant and ready to defend against unwarranted Iranian aggression,” CENTCOM said.
