YPG terror group announces dissolution in Syria

YPG terror group ringleader Ferhat Abdi Sahin announced Tuesday in Damascus that the organization is dissolving its so-called autonomous administration and all military and civilian structures, completing a months-long integration process with the Syrian state.

Announcement at People's Palace

Speaking to reporters at the People's Palace in the Syrian capital, Sahin — who uses the code name Mazloum Abdi — confirmed the dissolution follows an agreement reached with President Ahmed al-Sharaa. "Following the agreement reached with President Ahmed al-Sharaa, and upon completion of the process of integrating our forces into the brigades of the Syrian army, we announce today, with a great sense of responsibility, that we are dissolving ourselves as an independent military force," he said.

Integration deal

The Syrian administration and the YPG terror group reached a ceasefire agreement on Jan. 29 that provided for the organization's gradual integration into state institutions. The deal marked a significant shift in the terror group's status after years of operating as a separatist force in northern Syria.
