Snow storms and icy weather cause the cancelation of 327 Turkish Airlines flights, 110 Pegasus Airlines flights, six Onurair flights
Turkish Airlines canceled 327 flights scheduled for January 26-27 to and from Istanbul due to adverse weather conditions, the national carrier said on Thursday.
International and domestic flights arriving and departing from both of Istanbul's airports, Istanbul Atatürk Airport and Sabiha Gökçen Airport, have been affected by the weather.
The capacity of both airports will be reduced by 20 per cent between January 26-27 due to adverse weather conditions, Turkish Airlines announced.
The national carrier is not the only airline to cancel flights; Pegasus Airlines canceled 110 domestic flights, Atlas Global Airlines canceled 20 flights and Onurair canceled six flights.
This is the second spout of snowstorms and icy weather that Istanbul is experiencing this month.
The snow and high winds are expected to bring most transportation to a standstill, causing re-routed and delayed flights, canceled ferries and closed roads.
