Türkiye’s premier technology festival TEKNOFEST will open the second edition of its Blue Homeland maritime exhibition on Thursday at the Golcuk Naval Shipyard Command in northwestern Kocaeli, showcasing the nation’s expanding defense capabilities through vessel tours and tactical demonstrations by elite naval units.
Elite units to stage demonstrations
The four-day event, running from 9 am to 6 pm through Sunday, will feature demonstrations by the Turkish Naval Forces’ specialized Underwater Offense Command (SAT) and Underwater Defense Command (SAS) units alongside naval aviation teams, organizers said. Visitors will tour several active vessels including the frigate TCG Istanbul, the presidential yacht TCG Savarona, and the submarines TCG Murat Reis and TCG 18 Mart.
TCG Anadolu leads vessel displays
The amphibious assault ship TCG Anadolu will serve as the centerpiece of the maritime exhibition, allowing the public to board one of Türkiye’s largest domestically developed naval platforms. The program will highlight ongoing defense industry projects and indigenous systems development, reflecting Ankara’s push to expand domestic production in naval architecture and underwater technologies.
Festival draws 175,000 in inaugural edition
The inaugural TEKNOFEST Blue Homeland attracted 175,000 visitors to the Istanbul Naval Shipyard Command from August 28 to 31 last year. TEKNOFEST organizers stated that the broader festival program aims to promote innovation and encourage young people to pursue careers in science, engineering and advanced technologies across Türkiye’s defense and aerospace sectors.
