The Palestinian death toll in Gaza has risen to 73,407, with seven more killed and 23 wounded in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry. Israeli ceasefire violations persist across the enclave, while 90% of civilian infrastructure lies in ruins and reconstruction costs are estimated at $70 billion.

The Gaza Strip's death toll from Israel's ongoing military campaign has climbed to 73,407, the Palestinian Health Ministry reported on Wednesday, as seven additional bodies were brought to hospitals over the past 24 hours. Another 23 Palestinians sustained injuries during the same period, according to the ministry's daily statistical update. The report noted that Israeli forces continue to violate the October 2025 ceasefire agreement through shelling and gunfire across various parts of the besieged territory, though the ministry did not specify the circumstances surrounding the latest casualties.

Ceasefire violations and rising civilian toll

Since the ceasefire took effect, Israeli violations have resulted in 1,273 Palestinian deaths and 4,223 injuries, the ministry stated. Many victims remain trapped beneath rubble or lie on roads, with ambulance and civil defense crews still unable to reach them due to ongoing hostilities. The overall number of wounded since October 2023 now stands at 174,335, according to the ministry's figures. The relentless military operations have devastated Gaza's civilian infrastructure, with approximately 90% of buildings and facilities damaged or destroyed.

Humanitarian crisis and reconstruction challenges

Beyond the staggering human toll, the Israeli campaign has inflicted widespread destruction across the enclave, leaving hospitals, schools, water systems, and residential neighborhoods in ruins. The United Nations has estimated reconstruction costs at roughly $70 billion, highlighting the immense challenge facing any future recovery effort. The blockade, now in its third year, has compounded the humanitarian catastrophe, with food, water, and medical supplies remaining severely restricted. International aid agencies have repeatedly warned that the enclave is becoming increasingly uninhabitable for its more than two million residents.
