Iran rejects plot against Trump's son as 'fabricated propaganda'

Iran's Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei on Thursday dismissed allegations of an Iranian plot targeting US President Donald Trump's youngest son as "fabricated propaganda," attributing the claims to Israeli manipulation amid persistently high tensions between Tehran and Washington. The rejection follows the recent broadcast of an AI-generated video on Iran's Channel 3 that included details regarding the residence and movements of Barron Trump in New York — widely interpreted as containing assassination threats against the US president's son.

Accusations Against Netanyahu

Rezaei characterized the allegations as "Netanyahu's tricks," referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "The claim that there is a plot against Trump's son is nothing but a big lie designed by Netanyahu to deceive and frighten the US president," he said, adding that Tehran had no intention of targeting Trump's family members.

US-Iran Hostilities

The controversy emerges against a backdrop of sustained hostilities between Iran and the United States that began on February 28 with American and Israeli military strikes on Iranian territory, prompting retaliatory attacks by Tehran against US assets in Arab countries. The two sides signed a 14-point memorandum of understanding in Islamabad on June 18 following mediation by Pakistan and Qatar, though implementation has faltered with Washington resuming military operations in July and Tehran accusing the White House of failing to honor its commitments.
