Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas AraghchiIranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday that Tehran responds to "vulgarity" with action rather than words after US President Donald Trump threatened further military strikes against the Islamic Republic and called Iranians "scum" while speaking on the margins of the NATO summit in Ankara.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday that Tehran does not respond to insults with rhetoric but with decisive measures, following US President Donald Trump's derogatory remarks and threats of additional military action against the Islamic Republic.
Trump threatens fresh strikes at NATO summit
Speaking on the margins of the NATO summit in Türkiye's capital Ankara, Trump warned that Washington would "probably" hit Iran again on Wednesday night after overnight US strikes targeting the country. "We hit them very hard last night, very, very. Probably hit them hard again tonight," he said. The US president added: "I don't want to deal with them anymore. They're scum."
Tehran vows 'action' over rhetoric
Araghchi responded on the social media platform X, stating that Iranians are renowned for their "civility" and "strong moral values." "Addressing the Civilized and Courageous Nation of Iran with derogatory language does not diminish its Greatness," he wrote. "We do not answer vulgarity with vulgarity, but with action: fearlessly and with great valor," he added.
Trump's remarks came as the US conducted retaliatory strikes against Iran following attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz. The exchange of hostilities has sharply escalated tensions between Washington and Tehran.
