Attack on Hadatha
Israeli forces attacked Hadatha in southern Lebanon's Bint Jbeil district on Sunday, opening fire on a western neighborhood and deploying military vehicles inside the town despite an ongoing ceasefire, according to Lebanon's official National News Agency (NNA).
Israeli soldiers opened fire on the western neighborhood while vehicles moved inside the town, the agency reported. The incident marks the latest truce violation since the ceasefire took effect in mid-April.
Ceasefire violations
Intensive Israeli airstrikes began on March 2, leading to occupation of several southern towns before a ceasefire took effect on April 17, though the truce has since been extended several times. Despite the agreement, Israeli forces carried out airstrikes on Lebanon in the early hours of Aug. 15.
Lebanese health authorities reported that 4,346 people have been killed since the escalation began on March 2. The government reported earlier that displaced persons exceeded 1 million.
