Foreign ministers of Türkiye and seven other nations on Sunday condemned Israel's rejection of a roadmap to end the Gaza war, warning that the move jeopardizes efforts to achieve lasting peace and calling for sustained US engagement to ensure full compliance with the internationally endorsed plan.
Foreign ministers of Türkiye, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates on Sunday condemned Israel's declared rejection of a roadmap to end the Gaza conflict, warning in a joint statement that the move jeopardizes efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.
Condemnation of Israel's position
The ministers said Israel's rejection of the roadmap and its refusal to recognize Palestinian statehood amount to "a direct repudiation" of US President Donald Trump's Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, which was endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803. They warned that Israel's position fundamentally undermines collective peace efforts and confirms that Israel now bears responsibility for obstructing efforts to bring peace in Gaza and the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
Mediation efforts and roadmap provisions
The roadmap has been accepted by Palestinian factions following extensive mediation efforts conducted by Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye and the US alongside the High Representative of Gaza and the Board of Peace. It outlines specific steps toward decommissioning weapons alongside the withdrawal of Israeli forces, deployment of an International Stabilization Force, transfer of full administrative authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and comprehensive reconstruction of the enclave.
Call for sustained US engagement
The ministers stressed the importance of "sustained and active US engagement" to ensure Israel's full compliance with the plan and to prevent further obstruction, warning that Israel bears "direct and full responsibility" for any deterioration resulting from continued rejection or non-compliance. They reaffirmed their categorical support for Palestinian self-determination and statehood, stating: "A just, lasting and comprehensive peace only will be achieved by the implementation of two-State solution, by the realization of an independent and sovereign Palestinian State based on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital."
The ministers also called for the full and immediate implementation of the plan to address the humanitarian situation in Gaza and ensure security and stability, urging the Board of Peace, with active US support, to take "immediate and concrete measures" within its mandate to preserve the integrity of the plan and prevent any obstruction.
