Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store announced 85 billion kroner ($9.2 billion) in fresh support for Ukraine for 2027 during a visit to Kyiv on Sunday, allocating 70 billion for military assistance and 15 billion for civilian needs as Oslo pledged continued backing for Kyiv's defense.

Oslo commits to third year of multi-billion support

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store announced on Sunday that Oslo will provide Ukraine with 85 billion kroner ($9.2 billion) in fresh assistance during 2027, pledging sustained support for Kyiv's defense efforts as he arrived in the Ukrainian capital alongside Nordic and Baltic leaders.

"Norway will continue to support Ukraine's defense struggle," Store said, according to Norwegian broadcaster NRK. "Now we are sending a clear signal that Norway will continue to stand by, both civilian and military," he added, noting that the 2027 package marked the third consecutive year of such annual commitments.

Defense and civilian allocations

The package earmarks 70 billion kroner ($7.5 billion) for military assistance and 15 billion kroner ($1.6 billion) for civilian support, reflecting Oslo's dual-track approach to bolstering Ukraine's battlefield capabilities while addressing humanitarian reconstruction needs.

Store noted that the sustained financial backing underscores Norway's long-term commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty, with the funds set to flow through established defense and development channels throughout 2027.

Regional solidarity visit

The Norwegian premier traveled to Kyiv on Sunday alongside leaders from Nordic and Baltic countries to attend a Ukraine-Nordic-Baltic summit and participate in events marking Ukraine's National Flag Day, with bilateral meetings scheduled between Store and Ukrainian officials.

Store said the Ukrainian people live daily with the consequences of Russia's brutal war, stating that Moscow's escalation of missile and drone attacks against cities and critical infrastructure has left civilians being "systematically targeted" as Ukraine continues its fight for freedom and self-determination.
