Search and rescue operations are conducted after the Russian combined strike in Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine on October 30, 2025.

Russian defense officials state their forces have seized control of seven villages in Ukraine over the past week. The claims include the capture of settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions amid a series of targeted strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure and military sites.

The Russian Defense Ministry asserted on Friday that its military secured seven Ukrainian villages in the last week, marking a significant territorial claim. According to the ministry, six of these settlements were taken in the Dnipropetrovsk region, while one was captured in the Kharkiv region by different army groups.

Extensive Strike Campaign Detailed

Alongside the ground offensive, the ministry reported conducting a massive strike and five group strikes with high-precision weaponry. These attacks reportedly targeted Ukraine's military industry, energy facilities, transport infrastructure, and sites associated with the production of cruise missiles and drones.

Ukrainian Air Defenses Respond

The Russian statement also addressed Ukrainian retaliation, claiming its forces shot down 17 guided aerial bombs, 10 US-made HIMARS rockets, two Neptune missiles, and over 1,700 drones. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed a mass strike occurred but stated that most of the incoming projectiles were successfully intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses.

Ongoing Conflict Context

This latest update from Moscow comes amid the continued conflict in Ukraine, where territorial control frequently shifts. The claims of village captures, particularly in multiple regions, indicate persistent pressure along the front lines, even as nations like Türkiye have previously engaged in diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.
