Türkiye's Erdoğan meets Azerbaijani leader Aliyev in Bishkek

Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Tuesday on the margins of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Heads of State Summit in Bishkek. Erdoğan, who is staying in the Kyrgyz capital for the high-level gathering, began his bilateral program with the one-on-one talks at his hotel. The two leaders discussed regional developments and bilateral cooperation during the session.

Eurasian forum

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit convenes leaders from member states and dialogue partners to address security and economic issues across Central Asia. Türkiye participates in the organization as a dialogue partner, while Azerbaijan maintains observer status at the Eurasian political and economic forum.

The meeting took place as both leaders prepare for the main summit sessions scheduled over the coming days. High-level bilateral contacts between Ankara and Baku have intensified in recent months amid growing cooperation in energy and transport sectors.
