US acts as 'munitions depot and ATM' for Israel, says anti-Zionist founder

Michael Rectenwald, founder of the Anti-Zionist America PAC (AZAPAC), says the US functions as Israel's "munitions depot and ATM," enabling its aggressive policies. He argues US support allows atrocities in Gaza and aims to "de-Zionize" the US government by electing anti-Zionist candidates to Congress.
The founder of a new US political action committee has leveled a stark critique against American foreign policy, describing the United States as a "munitions depot and an ATM" for Israel. Michael Rectenwald of the Anti-Zionist America Political Action Committee (AZAPAC) told Anadolu that overwhelming Zionist influence dictates US support, enabling what he termed Israeli crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Political Strategy to Counter Influence
Rectenwald stated that Israel's ability to conduct its military campaign in Gaza, which has resulted in over 70,000 Palestinian deaths, exists solely due to explicit US backing. "I thought that the only way to stop this... would be to get rid of Zionism from the US government," he said, arguing the government has become "subservient" to Israel. His group's strategy focuses on electoral politics, aiming to replace what he calls Zionists in Congress and the Senate with anti-Zionist candidates, starting with upcoming midterm elections.
Mechanisms of Influence and Regional Repercussions
The activist claimed Israeli lobbying firms funnel large sums to American politicians, creating a climate of fear and potential blackmail against those who might oppose Israeli policies. He linked unconditional US support directly to anti-American sentiment across the Middle East. "That's why you have chants like 'Death to America'... It's because of our affiliation and unconditional support of Israel," Rectenwald argued.
Ultimate Goal of 'De-Zionizing' US Policy
The primary objective of AZAPAC, according to its founder, is the complete cessation of US military and financial aid to Israel and ending Israeli influence on American domestic politics. "We're looking at overturning and de-Zionizing the US government entirely," Rectenwald said, framing the current relationship as one of American subservience. He concluded that Israel "extorts unbelievable amounts of money" from US taxpayers to fund an aggressive regional policy.
