Turkish defense manufacturer FNSS has unveiled its I-ZAHA unmanned amphibious assault vehicle at TEKNOFEST Blue Homeland. The modular platform, built on the manned ZAHA system, can operate autonomously or via swarm tactics, minimizing personnel casualties in high-risk missions while offering significant export potential.
Turkish defense industry leader FNSS is making waves at the TEKNOFEST Blue Homeland naval exhibition with the public debut of its I-ZAHA, a cutting-edge unmanned amphibious assault vehicle. Developed in just six months, the platform builds upon the proven manned ZAHA system already serving with the Turkish Naval Forces, representing a significant leap forward in autonomous military technology.
Revolutionizing amphibious warfare
Speaking at the four-day maritime defense event, FNSS CEO Selim Baybaş explained that the I-ZAHA was conceived to execute the most dangerous amphibious maneuvers while keeping personnel out of harm's way. "We incorporated many pieces of battle-proven equipment and subsystems from various programs, and we believe this system to be a world's first," Baybaş told Anadolu. The modular design allows the vehicle to be operated remotely from ships or coordinated with other ZAHA units through advanced swarm capabilities, offering unprecedented tactical flexibility.
Meeting Türkiye's defense needs
FNSS has already completed Phase 1 deliveries and is ramping up production across three shifts to meet the requirements of the Turkish Navy and Armed Forces. The I-ZAHA's versatility enables it to perform a wide range of missions, from reconnaissance to direct assault, without exposing troops to enemy fire. This capability aligns with Türkiye's broader strategy of developing indigenous, technologically superior defense systems to enhance national security.
Export ambitions
Beyond domestic requirements, FNSS has launched an ambitious export program targeting Türkiye's allies and partner nations. With limited global competition in the unmanned amphibious vehicle sector, the company is positioning itself to secure substantial international contracts. The I-ZAHA's combination of proven technology, modular design, and autonomous operation makes it an attractive option for navies seeking to modernize their amphibious capabilities while reducing operational risks.
