Türkiye's Vice President Cevdet YilmazVice President Cevdet Yilmaz said the oversight board established under Law No. 7595 will convene on August 24 to coordinate the disarmament process and strengthen social cohesion, marking the first concrete step in implementing the government's “Terror-Free Türkiye” initiative since the legislation entered force this week.
Türkiye's Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz on Tuesday announced that the oversight board established under the National Solidarity and Strengthening Social Cohesion Law will hold its inaugural meeting on August 24. The body, chaired by Yilmaz himself, will coordinate the disarmament and dissolution process outlined in the legislation.
Board establishment
Yilmaz stated on the social media platform NSosyal that the board was constituted immediately upon the law's publication in the Official Gazette on Monday. “The Board defined under the law and operating under the chairmanship of the vice president was established with the publication of the law,” he said. Ministers and relevant institutions have already begun preparatory work within their respective mandates, he noted.
The vice president confirmed the specific date for the first convening, stating: “We plan to hold the Board's first meeting on Monday, Aug. 24.” He added that the session would establish the board's internal working procedures and principles, while also creating specialized subcommittees to address the technical requirements of the disarmament process.
Coordination mandate
The meeting will evaluate institutional coordination issues raised by board members, addressing jurisdictional overlaps between state agencies involved in the peace initiative. “Our Board will work in effective coordination for our national unity, brotherhood and peace, and will work intensively to fulfill all duties and responsibilities defined under Law No. 7595,” Yilmaz said. Law No. 7595, which provides the legal framework for Ankara's “Terror-Free Türkiye” process, entered into force this week following its publication in the Official Gazette.
