Türkiye hails US-Iran truce, calls for full implementation on ground

Ankara welcomed Wednesday’s temporary ceasefire between Washington and Tehran, urging all parties to fully implement the agreement. Türkiye reiterated that lasting peace requires dialogue, diplomacy and mutual trust, and congratulated Pakistan for its mediation role ahead of negotiations in Islamabad.
Türkiye’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement Wednesday welcoming the two‑week pause in hostilities between the United States and Iran, which was announced by President Donald Trump. Ankara emphasized that the temporary ceasefire must be “fully implemented on the ground” and expressed hope that all sides would adhere to the terms. The ministry added that a path to durable peace can only be forged through dialogue, diplomacy and mutual trust, and reaffirmed Türkiye’s readiness to provide “all necessary support to ensure the success of the negotiations to be held in Islamabad.”
Praise for Pakistan and Call for Lasting Solution
Türkiye congratulated Pakistan for its constructive role in facilitating the ceasefire and wished for the continuation of all initiatives that contribute to regional peace. Communications Director Burhanettin Duran wrote on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal that Ankara hopes the truce “will not be limited to reducing current tensions, but will also pave the way for a lasting solution and peace.” He stressed that the long‑standing fragile security environment in the region underscores the vital importance of dialogue and diplomatic channels.
Türkiye’s Pro‑Peace Stance
Duran further noted that strengthening mutual understanding, refraining from escalatory steps and acting on the basis of international law will be decisive in establishing lasting peace. Under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s leadership, Türkiye continues to exert every effort to contribute to regional and global stability. With its strong diplomatic tradition and fair, balanced approach, Ankara has consistently adopted a pro‑peace stance and assumed the responsibility of being a reliable actor in resolving crises. The conflict that erupted on Feb. 28 has claimed more than 1,340 lives, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, while Iran’s retaliatory strikes have targeted Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf states hosting US assets.
