Bahrain downs Iranian missiles, drones in overnight attack

Bahrain's armed forces said on Wednesday that its air defenses destroyed multiple Iranian missiles and drones during an overnight escalation, warning civilians to avoid debris from what Manama called Tehran's systematic hostility and flagrant violations of international humanitarian law.
Bahrain's armed forces said on Wednesday that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed what it called “a number of treacherous Iranian aerial attacks” during an early morning escalation. Tehran continues its systematic hostile approach through “sinful attacks” using missiles and drones targeting civilians in the kingdom, the military stated in a posting on social media platform X.
Public safety warnings
The General Command affirmed that its weapons and units remain at the highest readiness levels to protect the kingdom, urging the public to exercise caution around debris from the overnight barrage. Deliberately targeting civilians and private property with such weapons constitutes a “flagrant violation of international humanitarian law,” the army added. Officials called on residents to avoid approaching or touching “any suspicious objects resulting from the remnants of the brutal Iranian attack,” and to report them immediately.
Regional tensions
Manama's Interior Ministry activated warning sirens across the country earlier on Wednesday after Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced it had targeted the US Fifth Fleet headquarters in the kingdom. The Iranian force said it struck American military assets in the region as part of ongoing retaliation operations, though Bahraini officials did not specify the exact number of projectiles intercepted during the exchange. The military confirmed that defensive measures successfully neutralized the overnight threat against civilian and military installations.
