Erdoğan meets Sudan’s PM in Ankara, pledges support for sovereignty

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hosted Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris in Ankara, reaffirming Türkiye’s support for Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Erdoğan vowed to increase humanitarian aid and back diplomatic efforts to end the conflict and restore normalcy.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris at the Presidential Complex in Ankara on Wednesday for talks focused on bilateral relations and regional developments, according to the Turkish Communications Directorate.
Support for Sudan’s sovereignty and peace
During the meeting, Erdoğan stated that both countries aim to further advance their ties through existing and future steps, stressing that Türkiye continues to strongly support Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also said Ankara is working to help end the conflict in Sudan and restore normalcy, adding that Türkiye supports diplomatic efforts to establish a ceasefire and launch a comprehensive political process. Erdoğan noted that humanitarian aid aimed at easing the suffering of the Sudanese people would continue to increase.
High-level attendance
The meeting was also attended by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Agriculture Minister İbrahim Yumaklı, and Communications Director Burhanettin Duran. Türkiye has consistently positioned itself as a key humanitarian and diplomatic actor in Sudan, providing medical supplies, food aid, and mediation support since the outbreak of armed conflict between the Sudanese army and paramilitary forces.
