Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said Saturday that neighboring countries have sent "numerous messages" regarding new regional security frameworks and economic cooperation, even as Washington threatens unprecedented economic sanctions aimed at isolating the Islamic Republic.

Regional Security Initiatives

Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said Saturday that Tehran has received "numerous messages" from neighboring states regarding the formation of new security arrangements and economic partnerships across the region. The senior lawmaker made the remarks on the social media platform X, presenting the outreach as evidence that regional powers are looking beyond traditional security frameworks despite mounting pressure from Washington.

Qalibaf accused the United States of jeopardizing the security of its own allies through "bullying and pure disregard for their interests for the sake of Israel," arguing that such tactics had temporarily placed those nations' existence at risk. "A homegrown, independent order is what will actually deliver peace and security," he said, adding that indigenous regional cooperation would prove more durable than externally imposed security guarantees.

US Economic Warfare

The statements come amid renewed threats from the White House, with US President Donald Trump announcing Wednesday his intention to launch "the most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country." Trump described his administration's maximum-pressure campaign against Iran as "Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale," raising the prospect of sweeping sanctions that could further complicate regional trade routes.

Diplomatic efforts to ease tensions have stalled since Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum of understanding in June through Pakistani and Qatari mediation, ending hostilities and opening a 60-day window for negotiations. Talks have since faltered over disputes regarding implementation of the ceasefire terms and arrangements for navigation through the Strait of Hormuz — a critical chokepoint for global oil and gas shipments.
