Lukashenko: Belarus, Russia to resolve 'common problem' on borders

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Friday that his country and Russia will resolve a "common problem" facing their respective southern and western borders, declaring that the two nations will overcome challenges regardless of external opposition. Speaking during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin in Moscow, Lukashenko described the situation on Belarus's southern frontier and Russia's western edge as a "real problem" requiring joint attention. "Looking ahead, today we'll also discuss our common problem, which we're facing in southern Belarus and western Russia. It's a real problem, but we'll solve it, no matter how much some people might want it," he said, according to Anadolu Agency.

Energy and food supplies

The Belarusian leader expressed gratitude to Mishustin's government for fulfilling its obligations toward Minsk and pledged that Belarus would meet its own commitments and "even exceed them." "I must once again assure you publicly that everything we have planned is being fulfilled and will be fulfilled: from the smallest things like fuel, diesel, various types of gasoline, and so on, to food supplies," Lukashenko added.

Bilateral trade agenda

Mishustin assured Lukashenko that Moscow is implementing all decisions reached at the highest level, with presidential-level issues remaining under constant governmental supervision. The Russian premier noted that he and Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin had reviewed the full bilateral agenda alongside matters concerning the Eurasian Economic Union, adding that mutual trade turnover is growing systematically.
