Really, they always make something happen to leaders and parties that try to solve the Kurdish and PKK problems in this country.
Look at what we are going through these days. The Republican People's Party (CHP) and Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), which were against the reconciliation process, are starting to lay claim to it after the reconciliation process ended, and are now developing the “they lost the elections, so they have ended the peace" discourse.
The Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) is coming around from the back and twisting the reconciliation process as the betrayal process. In fact recently, with an order from MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, the MHP Vice Chairman filed a complaint to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
According to his allegation, “The PKK's stocking weapons in the region with the start of the reconciliation process in 2013 was overlooked. The president and the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) are responsible for this. The aim of this malicious plan is to achieve presidency."
The CHP, HDP and MHP, who raise and lower their hands at the same time in Parliament, are putting forward theories invalidating one another, but both theories are aimed at developing a conspiracy against Erdoğan and the government through the reconciliation process.
Immediately after Bahçeli's complaint, Gülenist newspapers, Sözcü in particular, drew attention with their attempt to create the atmosphere for a second Feb. 7 process through the exploitation of the martyrs. Sözcü's headline following Bahçeli's complaint was “Crime, confession, proof available, no penalty."
Also around the same time, CHP deputy Barış Yarkadaş's statement on the national television channel, Kanaltürk, where he said, “[HDP Co-Chair Selahattin] Demirtaş may disclose in the upcoming days the records regarding the Oslo process," did not go unnoticed.
Erdoğan and the government are threatened from the Gülenist channel.
None of this is coincidental; it is as though a conspiracy is being planned through the Gülenists, PKK, opposition parties and the media.
But, the same CHP had supported the reconciliation process law that passed Parliament on July 11, 2014. In other words, the reconciliation process progressed with authorization from the Parliament and both the CHP and HDP signed this law. Let us add: According to the law, the politicians and bureaucrats managing the process have immunity.
Hence, Bahçeli is required to file a complaint regarding Kılıçdaroğlu as well.
The PKK's abuse of this process is an assessment; accusing the politicians, who mention this assessment, with helping the PKK, is a deliberate distortion.
If they don't believe the government, let us look at the statements made by PKK's military leader Murat Karayılan right after the elections, who they embraced to carry out an operation on the country's politics:
“If you remember, following those long Oslo negotiations, our leadership had proposed a protocol for reconciliation. The government had to make a decision regarding that protocol. We were told a decision would be made after the elections. After stalling for a while following the June 11, 2011, elections and justifying the stall with some incidents that took place, after July 14, the government waged war against our movement with an extremely severe wave of attacks. They wanted to apply Sri Lanka's plan to eliminate the Tamil guerrillas on us. So, they developed the most comprehensive airstrikes in the history of the Republic of Turkey on our forces. Many of our valuable leading staff, such as Rüstem Cudi, Alişer Koçgiri and Çiçek Botan, fell martyr during these attacks."
So after Oslo, the PKK burned the bridges with the Silvan attack and with the government's decision, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) inflicted heavy losses on the PKK. Whereas the pro-coup circles of Feb. 7 and today claim that the government made a covenant with the PKK for reasons such as presidency.
If they made an agreement, then why would they fight?
Let us continue with Karayılan.
“It went on like this until early 2012. In the spring of 2012, as guerillas, we developed a counterattack against the Turkish government. This counterattack shook the Turkish government's system in Kurdistan. State forces were no longer able to enter many places, because we had decided to fight to the end. [...] In fact, back then, I personally came to the Zagros area. We had planned an attack that would completely bring down many military headquarters, primarily Oramar, in the Zagros-Colemêrg area. We had to postpone due to some setbacks and the attempts of some to negate our efforts; winter came early, it snowed, the season's conditions became severe and hence we postponed our great attack to March 10. This is why we buried all our heavy weapons there. We didn't scatter any force we gathered for that great movement; we kept them in close locations. This was done because our aim was to remove the Turkish Army from many locations with a comprehensive attack in the spring of 2013 and deepen the war across the country with the Revolutionist People's War to paralyze the Turkish state's colonialist system in Kurdistan. All the necessary preparations for this were made."
Alas, right at that time the reconciliation process kicked off. Continue...
“That's when we were left in between. We couldn't openly say 'we planned for war, we made all our preparations, and we want to continue with the war.' This was a real mistake. [...] We expressed that we weren't very enthusiastic during the development of the process. We actually wanted to fight. But we had to cancel the war plan we had made. Once the snow melted, we went and removed our armory and heavy weapons from those areas. [...] If the leadership had not put in the efforts we mentioned earlier, Turkey would have entered a big conflict process after 2012 and its elections process in the last two years would have been out of the question."
Good Gracious! According to Karayılan, the PKK was ready for war not during the reconciliation process, but rather at the beginning of the process. He admits that this is the only reason they were against the process. He says, “We were strong, we missed the opportunity and withdrew our weapons."
It is obvious that the reconciliation process prevented a heavier conflict than the one we are witnessing today. The PKK was very upset to have missed the opportunity. The opposition seems to be in the same boat, because as Karayılan said, the aim was to overthrow the government.
Looking at it from here, it seems more reasonable for opposition parties to be prosecuted since they are part of the coup mechanics with the PKK.
I mean, if we have to go to court, isn't it a heavier crime to try and carry out a coup in cooperation with the terrorist organization?
