Dollar jumps as Trump surprises by winning US election

Trump's surprising victory in key swing states sends gold soaring and the dollar also gains value against Turkish lira
The U.S. dollar gained value against the Turkish lira, trading near 3.30 on Wednesday morning and the prices of gold climbed rapidly exceeding 1,300 dollars per ounce against the Turkish lira as the ounce increased 3 percent as Republican Donald Trump advances with enough votes to be the United States President.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was sharply down Wednesday to open at 74,561.69 points. The index was down 1,806.10 points, or 2.37 percent, after the second transaction of the day. The banking and holding sector indexes advanced by 2.46 and 2.13 percent respectively.
All sector indexes lost value. The textile, leather sector fell the most, down 3.85 percent.
Nearly all stock exchanges around the world were shaken with sharp losses, as futures of global major indexes such as S&P 500, Nasdaq 100, DAX, FTSE 100 and CAC 40 saw losses of over 3 percent, following the unexpected Donald Trump victory.
Meanwhile, gold surged the most since the Brexit vote, the United Kingdom European Union membership referendum that took place on June 23, as reports revealed the surprising victory of Trump even in critical states.
Investors were fleeing riskier assets as projections showed Trump victories in Florida, Ohio and North Carolina, states that he needed to have a path to the White House, according to the Bloomberg.
Previously, most polls showed Clinton ahead going into the vote and the first four states to be called were in line with forecasts
With the recent increase; quarter gold purchase prices became 216 Turkish lira while sale price became 222 Turkish lira in Turkey.
Also, the half gold coin purchase price reaches 433 Turkish lira and sale price 444, while the full gold coin purchase price is 865 Turkish lira and sales price is 878.
