Trump's tariffs backfire, force US factory to shutdown
U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff policy has forced a consumer-electronics manufacturing factory in South Carolina to shut down. Element Electronics, a company aiming to bring the world's best technology home to Winnsboro in South Carolina, can't afford to assemble TVs at this site because Trump's tariffs have made imported Chinese components too expensive. It planned to close, laying off 126 employees and maintaining just a skeleton staff.
