After 'Ertugrul', Imran Khan urges Pakistanis to watch Turkey’s 'Yunus Emre'

Imran Khan strongly recommends Pakistanis to watch the lauded Turkish drama ‘Yunus Emre’ centered around Sufism

After praising the smash-hit television series "Resurrection: Ertugrul," Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a new must-watch Turkish drama for Pakistanis.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Imran Khan strongly recommended Pakistanis, especially those interested in Sufism, to watch the Turkish drama "Yunus Emre: Aşkin Yolculuğu", the Journey of Love in English, set to be broadcast on PTV.

In mid-November, Faisal Javed Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), conveyed insights on the series and Muslim poet Yunus Emre.

“On the directions of PM ImranKhan, yet another hit by @mmehmetbozdag YunusEmre (AşkinYolculuğu) to be telecast on PTV. Yunus Emre (the Dervish) was an Islamic poet, a mystic and a poor villager. Story of a great Sufi wholly dedicated to ALLAH & searching,” the tweet read accompanied by the hashtag #KnowingIslamicHistory.

The new TRT1 hit "Yunus Emre" is a Turkish biographical and historical television series created by Mehmet Bozdağ, starring Gökhan Atalay in the titular role.

It centers around the life of Yunus Emre, the 13th century Anatolian Sufi poet, who greatly influenced Anatolian culture.

Turkish series "Resurrection: Ertugrul," often described as the Muslim Game of Thrones, has passed 10 million subscribers on its Urdu YouTube channel, garnering a great interest in the South Asian country.

PTV dubbed the series in Urdu after Prime Minister Imran Khan visited Turkey last year and was informed about the importance of the drama.

On April 25, coinciding with the first day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, PTV aired the first episode of the popular Turkish TV series, which highlights the history of Muslims during the 13th century.
