The lead actor of the smash-hit Turkish TV series Resurrection: Ertugrul, Engin Altan Düzyatan, hinted that he could appear in Pakistani dramas, depending on the script, during his short visit to the South Asian country.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore on Friday, the Turkish actor revealed that he had struck a deal for new projects in Pakistan and was set to become a brand ambassador for a private textile company.

"If you have a good story, why not?" the Turkish actor replied when asked if he would like to star in Pakistani TV series.

Altan also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan due to his praise for the historical drama Diriliş: Ertuğrul.

The 41-year-old actor received a warm welcome from his fans in Lahore where he arrived on Thursday.

“I know Pakistani people love me. I am also aware about the natural beauty of the county,” Altan said.

Often described as the Turkish Game of Thrones, the series is woven around 13th century Anatolia and tells the story prior to the establishment of the Ottoman Empire. It illustrates the struggle of Ertugrul Gazi, father of the empire's founder.

PTV dubbed the series in Urdu after Prime Minister Imran Khan visited Turkey last year and was informed about the importance of the drama.

The series has passed 10 million subscribers on its Urdu YouTube channel, garnering a great interest in Pakistan.

Other Turkish TV series have also become hugely popular in Pakistan.

Turkey, Pakistan and Malaysia agreed in September 2019 to fight the rising global trend of Islamophobia, mainly in the West.

The trio of nations decided to launch a television channel dedicated to confronting the challenges posed by Islamophobia and to produce films on Muslim heroes.
