Türkiye's women's volleyball team defeated Brazil 3-1 in the Volleyball Nations League final on Sunday to claim their second title in the tournament's history. The final, played at the East Asian Games Dome in Macau, saw Türkiye win 23-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-21 against the world No. 2 side.
Key Performances and History
Opposite hitter Melissa Vargas was the match's top scorer, while outside hitter Hande Baladın contributed 19 points. Türkiye secured their second VNL title after winning their first in 2023, having reached the final stage for eight consecutive years. With two golds, one silver and one bronze, they rank among the most successful teams in the competition's history.
Santarelli's Success and Revenge
Head coach Daniele Santarelli, who took charge in 2023, won his third gold medal with the national team, following the 2023 VNL and European Championship titles, and a silver at the 2025 World Championship. The victory also avenged Türkiye's bronze-medal loss to Brazil at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Brazil, meanwhile, suffered their fifth final defeat in the VNL's eight-year history.
