Türkiye defeat Slovenia 3-1 in European Women's Volleyball Championship

Türkiye continued their title defence at the CEV Women's European Volleyball Championship with a convincing 3-1 victory over Slovenia on Sunday. The reigning champions, competing in front of their home crowd at Istanbul's Sinan Erdem Sports Hall, recovered from a second-set stumble to secure their second successive Pool A win.

The Crescent-Stars opened strongly, taking the first set 25-21 before Slovenia responded by levelling the match with a 25-22 second-set triumph. However, Türkiye regained their composure and dominated the third set 25-17, before closing out the contest with a commanding 25-16 performance in the fourth. Melissa Vargas was the standout performer for the hosts, contributing 19 points, while Ilkin Aydin added 13 and Zehra Gunes chipped in with 12. Slovenia's Masa Pucelj top-scored for her side with 17 points.

The victory follows Türkiye's opening 3-0 sweep of Latvia, keeping the reigning European champions firmly on track in their quest to retain the continental crown.
