Festival of Roses and Carpets kicks off in Isparta
Locals and tourists alike flocked to Turkey's capital of roses, Isparta, to participate in the third annual Festival of Roses and Carpets.
Isparta is known as the rose capital of Turkey.
Isparta has been growing the Damask rose for the last 125 years.
The Damask roses is picked between May and June.

Isparta houses 20 rose factories, which produce approximately 10 tons of rose flowers annually.
Isparta exports the purest form of rose oil to France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Saudia Araba, the UK and the U.S.
The Damask rose grown in Isparta is also used for tea, cooking and rose water.

Apart from Isparta, the only other place in the world that grows the Damask rose in such high quality and capacity is the Kazanluk valley, in Bulgaria.
The festival runs for two days.
