Turkish farmer removes muddy shoes before shopping to avoid dirtying store
Surveillance footage from southern Türkiye shows a farmer removing his muddy shoes before entering a local store, a gesture that has drawn widespread attention on social media. The incident occurred in the Edenlar neighborhood of Erdemli, where 61-year-old Adnan Ersin entered the shop wearing only socks to avoid dirtying the floor.
Explaining his actions, Ersin said: “I took my shoes off so I wouldn’t make the place dirty.” He added that staff told him it was unnecessary, but said he would repeat the gesture. “If it were repeated, I would have done the same thing again,” he said. “I acted in this way out of respect for the efforts and fatigue of the people" who clean the store.
