Bahrain activated air raid sirens for the third time Thursday as Iranian aerial threats persisted. The Interior Ministry urged residents to seek shelter, while the Bahrain Defense Force reported intercepting several drones. The alerts follow the collapse of a Pakistan-brokered US‑Iran memorandum, triggering renewed military confrontation in the Gulf.
Bahrain activated air raid sirens for the third time on Thursday as fears of Iranian aerial strikes persisted, the Interior Ministry announced. In a brief statement, the ministry called on citizens and residents to “remain calm and head to the nearest safe place” amid escalating exchanges between Iran and US forces in the region.
Interceptions and continued alerts
Earlier Thursday, the Bahrain Defense Force reported that its air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed several Iranian aerial threats. The latest alert follows a pattern of repeated warnings in the Gulf state, which hosts significant US military assets and has been a recurring target of Iranian drone and missile operations since the conflict began in late February.
Diplomatic breakdown and escalation
The renewed hostilities come less than a month after Iran and the US reached a Pakistan‑brokered memorandum of understanding on June 17, intended to end their military confrontation and pave the way for a lasting peace. However, US President Donald Trump declared the memorandum “over” on Wednesday, effectively ending the agreement and prompting a new wave of strikes. US Central Command confirmed that American forces had launched additional attacks to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, while Iranian state media said Tehran targeted US military infrastructure in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar with drones.
