Attack near Al-Auja
An Israeli occupier sustained moderate injuries on Sunday in a stabbing attack near the Palestinian village of Al-Auja in the Jordan Valley, east of the occupied West Bank. Israeli police stated on the social media platform X that the circumstances of the incident remain "under investigation."
The national ambulance service Magen David Adom confirmed the victim was moderately wounded in the assault, dispatching medical teams to the scene located north of Jericho.
Military lockdown
The Israeli army announced that its forces had launched a manhunt for the perpetrator and begun imposing a security cordon and closure on Al-Auja. Military checkpoints were reinforced throughout the surrounding area as soldiers conducted search operations in the occupied territory.
Surge in West Bank violence
The attack comes amid an escalation of violence in the occupied West Bank since the start of the Gaza war, with Israeli military operations and settler attacks killing 1,182 Palestinians and injuring more than 12,000 others. Palestinian official figures indicate that around 24,000 people have been arrested in the territory since October 2023, as Tel Aviv continues its military campaign across the Palestinian territories.
