Two Palestinians killed in Israeli drone strike in Gaza, violating ceasefire

Two Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip on Sunday in an Israeli drone strike, medical sources reported, marking another violation of the ceasefire in place since October. The attack targeted the Shujaiya neighborhood in Gaza City. Witnesses also reported Israeli gunfire in central and southern Gaza, as the total post-ceasefire death toll reaches 401.
Two Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip on Sunday in what medical sources described as the latest violation of the ceasefire agreement. The fatalities occurred when an Israeli quadcopter drone dropped a bomb on civilians in the Shujaiya neighborhood of Gaza City, according to reports from medical personnel.
Attack in Previously Withdrawn Areas
Witnesses stated that the Israeli attack took place in areas from which the army had previously withdrawn, noting there had been no reported violations in the officially demarcated army-controlled zones. Since early Sunday, eastern parts of Gaza City also reportedly came under heavy fire from Israeli helicopters, according to local sources on the ground.
Widespread Fire Across Gaza
The violence was not confined to the north. Local sources added that Israeli military vehicles stationed in controlled areas opened fire toward the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, as well as eastern Khan Younis and northern Rafah in the south. These incidents contribute to a pattern of reported breaches since the truce began.
Mounting Ceasefire Violations and Casualties
According to the latest figures from the Gaza Government Media Office dated December 9, the Israeli army has committed 738 ceasefire violations. The office also reports that at least 401 Palestinians have been killed and 1,108 injured by Israeli forces since the ceasefire took effect on October 10. This brings the total death toll from the Israeli war on Gaza to over 70,900, with nearly 171,200 injured.
