Turkish director Memduh Un dies at age 95

Memduh Un passed away in hospital in Bodrum district; he directed a total of 70 movies

Turkish film director, producer and actor Memduh Un has died at 95 in the southeastern province of Mugla on Friday, said hospital officials.

Un had been receiving treatment in the intensive care unit in the Bodrum district of Mugla due to a pleural effusion, hypertension and age-related health problems since January, according to hospital sources.

Un was a member of the Besiktas football team squad between 1940-41. He started working in cinema in 1947.

He directed some 70 movies and was involved in nearly 100 productions, according to the Internet Movie Database, i.e. IMDB.

The Broken Pots (1960), Great Oath (1969), All doors were closed (1990) and Cinema is a miracle (2005) are among the standout films he directed.
