Spanish cyclist wins Tour of Turkey’s sixth stage
Jaime Roson Garcia, competing for Spanish team, wins sixth stage of 52nd Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey in Antalya
A Spanish cyclist racing for the Spanish team Caja Rural-Seguros RGA won the sixth lap of the 52nd Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey on Friday.
Jaime Roson Garcia won the 116.9-kilometer Kumluca-Elmali lap, in the Mediterranean province of Antalya, in three hours, 22 minutes and 16 seconds, beating 100 other cyclists.
Polish cyclist Przemyslaw Niemiec from Italy's Lampre-Merida team came in second with three hours, 22 minutes and 18 seconds, and Pawel Cieslik from the Polish Verva Activejet Pro Cycling team came third with three hours, 22 minutes and 28 seconds.
Racer Pello Bilbao Lopez de Armentia from Caja Rural-Seguros RGA team handed over the Turquoise (general classification) jersey to his teammate Jose Goncalves, who also holds the sprint leader green jersey.
The seventh lap of the 52th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey will take place on Saturday on a 128.6-km route between Fethiye and Marmaris, along Turkey's Mediterranean coast.
A total of 128 cyclists from 16 teams are competing in the eight-stage tour, covering some 1,266 kilometers.
Organized by the Turkish Cycling Federation, the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey started in 1963 as the Marmara Tour and gained an international status for the first time in 1965.
