US military evacuates American Embassy in Afghanistan's Kabul

The U.S. has started to evacuate embassy staff in Afghanistan's capital as the Taliban began to enter the outskirts of capital Kabul. Earlier in the day, the Taliban surrounded the capital from all sides, according to the country's Interior Ministry. With the Taliban having captured all major provincial centers and border crossings in Afghanistan except for Kabul, gunshots were heard earlier around the presidential palace in the capital as insurgents closed in on the city.
