Artillery units from the Yemeni army's Taiz Military Axis said on Monday evening that they targeted Houthi military reinforcements in the Al-Ruba'i area west of Taiz city, stating that shelling achieved "direct hits" on "a tank, a BMP vehicle and six patrols," according to a military statement.
The equipment was hit as it moved through the contested western outskirts of the southwestern province, the statement said, adding that the strikes caused unspecified damage to assets deployed near the provincial capital.
Militant group remains silent
The army provided no information regarding casualties resulting from the artillery bombardment, which comes amid ongoing clashes for control of strategic routes around Taiz.
The Iran-aligned Houthi movement had not issued any response to the military's claims as of 1700GMT on Monday, according to Anadolu Agency.
