US President Donald Trump US President Donald Trump said Monday that Iran is unwilling to accept the terms he deems necessary to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons, while also criticizing Oman's diplomatic role regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
US President Donald Trump said Monday that Iran seeks to negotiate over its nuclear program but remains unwilling to accept terms he considers essential to prevent Tehran from developing atomic weapons.
'Necessary' terms rejected
Trump dismissed the possibility of a final agreement under the June framework, stating Tehran has not agreed to provisions required to block its path to a bomb. "They want to make a deal, but they are not going to make the kind of a deal that I feel is necessary," he said.
The president emphasized that preventing Iranian nuclear armament remains Washington's sole objective. "Look, we're in there for one reason: Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon," he said.
Oman criticized over Hormuz
Trump also addressed Muscat's role regarding neighboring Iran and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Asked whether he had lost patience with the Sultanate, he suggested the Gulf state had failed to meet expectations.
"No, I don't think they behaved very well, but we'd handle them very easily, just like we do other things," Trump said, according to Anadolu Agency.
