Türkiye defense minister holds talks with Qatar counterpart

National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler held telephone talks with Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani on Monday to discuss bilateral defense cooperation and regional security developments, according to the National Defense Ministry.

Security dialogue

Sheikh Saoud, who also serves as Qatar's minister of state for defense affairs, joined Güler in addressing defense and security matters of mutual concern, the ministry said in a statement posted on Türkiye's social media platform NSosyal. No additional information regarding the specific content of the discussions was disclosed.

Defense relations

Güler has maintained regular contact with Gulf defense officials since assuming office in June 2023. Sheikh Saoud oversees Qatar's military and security policies in his dual role as deputy prime minister and minister of state for defense affairs.
