Borussia Dortmund beat Atletico Madrid, PSG eliminate Barcelona in quarterfinal clashes

German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund and French Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) both reached the UEFA Champions League semifinals with comebacks on Tuesday.

Borussia Dortmund beat Atletico Madrid, coming back from 2-3 behind, while PSG eliminated Barcelona, coming back from 1-3 behind.

Borussia Dortmund began the game well as they gained a 2-0 lead with goals from Julian Brandt and Ian Maatsen in the 34th and 39th minutes, respectively when the first half ended at Signal Iduna Park in the Champions League quarterfinal second leg.

Then Atletico Madrid leveled the score in the second half with Mats Hummels' own goal in the 49th minute and Angel Correa's goal in the 64th minute to make the aggregate 4-3 in their favor.

But Dortmund turned the tie in three minutes with goals from Niclas Fullkrug in the 71st minute and Marcel Sabitzer in the 74th minute.

Dortmund reached the Champions League semifinals with a 5-4 aggregate victory.

Raphinha's goal in the 12th minute brought the lead to Barcelona against Paris Saint-Germain at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys, but the tide turned when Barcelona's Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo was sent off with a red card in the 29th minute in the Champions League quarterfinal second leg.

PSG cruised after that and netted four goals with Ousmane Dembele in the 40th minute, Vitinha in the 54th minute and Kylian Mbappe in the 61st and 89th minutes.

PSG reached the Champions League semifinals with a 6-4 aggregate win.

German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich will host English Premier League club Arsenal, while English Premier League side Manchester City will host Spanish La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid in UEFA Champions League quarterfinal second leg matches.
