Türkiye's tourism sector demonstrated robust performance in the first ten months of 2025, hosting 47.25 million international visitors according to data released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The figures show a marginal decrease of just 0.1% compared to the same period in the record-breaking previous year, indicating sustained strength in the vital tourism industry.
Istanbul and Antalya Dominate Arrivals
The historic metropolis of Istanbul remained the country's primary gateway, drawing 16.01 million foreign tourists and capturing 33.9% of the total market share. The Mediterranean jewel of Antalya secured its position as the second most popular destination, followed by the northwestern border city of Edirne. Combined, Istanbul and Antalya attracted more than two-thirds of all international visitors to Türkiye.
Russian Tourists Lead Source Markets
Analyzing visitor nationality, Russia maintained its position as the top source of tourists for Türkiye, contributing 13.5% of the total arrivals from January through October. Germany and the United Kingdom followed as the second and third most important markets, underscoring Türkiye's broad appeal across different European regions.
October Shows Strong Growth
The positive trend was particularly evident in October, which saw a significant 4.3% year-on-year increase with 5.68 million foreign arrivals. This strong monthly performance highlights the successful extension of the tourism season and reinforces the sector's role as a key pillar of the Turkish economy.
